Explore, Seek, Discover [For Spock]
Feb. 7th, 2017 07:32 pmIt's been a long time coming.
For the most part Jim has treated the Nexus like any other place the crew has traveled to and observed on their missions. He's taken numerous scans of the area. Collected samples, written up reports. The only difference is that Jim doesn't send a byte of it back to Starfleet. It had been unanimously agreed upon by himself, Spock, and Bones. After the whole Admiral Marcus incident, there was a limit to how much they could trust even the bureaucracy at Starfleet.
He's given Spock all of his private notes to read, after Khan had turned up in the Nexus. It's important that the Vulcan know the area, should anything ever happen and they need to take action.
Plus, Jim really just wants to show his first officer and friend around the place. The station at his door chimes at precisely 1700. Jim gets up to answer it.

"And yeah, that's a thing. You've read my notes on Tamrielic alchemy and magics, I trust? It doesn't seem to be biological the way some of our own species retain skills. Your own as a Vulcan, nor an Orion's for example. There is something else fundamentally going on and damn if I can explain it. Yet. BUt it's brilliant to watch."

Date: 2017-02-12 02:21 pm (UTC)Spock of course, had his own way of reasoning things.
"Fascinating, there are energy fields from different dimensions that our sensors and instruments could possibly have no way of identifying." Not so much superstitious nonsense, but simply another field of science not studied yet. He didn't seem so bothered by magic, since he thought about it this way.
He's very thankful for a less...psychologically upsetting...method of transiting.

Date: 2017-02-14 07:24 pm (UTC)Shit. Think like the wind, Kirk.
"I'm pretty well connected with the Imperials of Tamriel," Smooth. "I've seen a lot of it and it still is as mysterious as it was when I first saw it well over a year ago now." Jim reaches and takes his phone back before putting a firm hand on Spock's shoulder. "Sorry, we've gotta be touching for this to work. Just give me a second to hit the button--"
Bip.
The hum of the engines underfoot is gone. So is Captain Kirk's private quarters. Instead, there's a chill breeze hitting their faces as they stand within sight of the main thoroughfare of the Nexus Plaza about ankle deep in snow. The transition is a lot faster than the beaming Spock will be familiar with. More akin to misjudging the last step and falling suddenly that last couple of inches.
"--and here we are. Damn, Reynard's been around again. I should have grabbed a coat." Jim's breath comes in puffs of air and he laughs. "Will you be alright? I know you hate the cold."

But that engaging activity would have to be saved for a later time. He took a step back, the sensation of cold and snow biting at him, as he squinted slightly and observed the view around them.
"Fascinating."
If one spent a lot of time around Spock, they'd be able to tell when he was really impressed. No two 'fascinatings' were quite alike.
He seemed to be mildly judging Kirk's use of the emotional word 'hate.'
"It is tolerable, for now." He didn't like it, but he wasn't going to admit that right now. "Am I to assume this weather pattern is not of a normal variety?"

Date: 2017-02-26 09:22 pm (UTC)They'd have to be careful with it, obviously. This isn't the sort of thing they're reporting to Starfleet after all. They have to be a bit hush hush about the strange place they've discovered.
"You would be correct Mr. Spock." Jim can't help but to grin at his friend and first officer. "The weather here follows a vague typical seasonality though it's usually very mild compared to most of the planets we've encountered during our travels. I have yet to see anything that can affect the weather here in the Nexus with the exception of Reynard. He claims to be a Spirit of Winter and has the ability to affect the weather during what would be considered the winter months. His magic is at it's most potent around the Winter Solstice."
