Aug. 10th, 2035 12:37 amJim Kirk
I predominantly play him post Beyond, but anything from Academy era through the 5 year mission's close and then some is fine. I've read a chunk of the comics for AOS, and have so many AUs for Kirk it's not even funny. If you want to play with AOS Kirk of any flavor, I probably have something for that!
[OOC]
Backtagging: Absolutely!
Threadhopping: I'm all for meeting new people and so the more the merrier.
Fourthwalling: As long as you don't mind Jim sputtering in disbelief that he isn't real, it's cool. I'd rather it was kept for joking or icebreakers rather than instigating, but.
Offensive subjects: I'm pretty open to most things, but I'd prefer anything that gets pretty hardcore violent or graphic be discussed oocly first so everyone knows what's comfortable. I'd also prefer to keep stuff like that in protected threads if possible, so other readers are warned/don't have to see it.
[IC]
Hugging this character: Absolutely.
Kissing this character: Ditto.
Flirting with this character: He's probably doing it to you. Might as well join in!
Sex/relationship/shipping with this character: I prefer to start Gen and let things develop organically especially if we haven't threaded before. It is much easier to talk Jim into a one night stand than it is to romance him. Jim is pansexual.
Ships: I'm here for any and all Spocks or Bones
I'm maybe on most canon mates depending on how things play out though if you're doing Carol be aware that it's gonna end badly. Jim's not about abusing his rank with the crew so the non dept heads would be a lot harder to make work. (No shipping with Pikes, that's Jim's dad figure cmon)
Most other trek cast, cross cannons, or AUs are possible on a case by case basis if it goes that way while we're threading. I lean M/M for anything that is going to be serious but F/M can work with CR.
Fighting with this character: 100 times yes. Jim picks fights with everything.
Injuring this character: Clear it with me and it's probably cool.
Killing this character: Not unless we discuss a way to revive him asap. This one is probably a no, but Jim is no stranger to very near death experiences, so thats a-ok by the player.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: He will not like it, but so long as it's discussed the player is fine with it. Jim's living with a lot of baggage. He doesn't want anyone to know how messed up he is. The player doesn't care, go nuts.

Destiny and D2
Most hunters are lone wolves to some degree or another. A bit audacious, a bit quick to bend or ignore the rules if getting the job done means asking forgiveness is easier than asking for permission. For one Awoken Arctrider, The Job involved a lot of competing with every other hunter to have the biggest bounty tied to his name, or taking the fastest ship he could tune up out for recon work for the Vanguard. Stayed out of trouble, for the most part, and thus easily overlooked where Hunters are concerned.
At least, until he met The Guardian.
They were barely more than a newly formed fireteam when Ghaul stole everything. Without his Light, Jim was nobody. Some mouthy bastard with with a rifle and even quicker with a knife. He knows he was drug along by the Guardian through their fight to save the Last City more than it was that he kept up.
So when they got their Light back?
Jim dedicated everything to being worth being kept around. He sought out an old grizzled former commander of his to learn how to wield a Duskbow. Strangled fear itself to pin down the enemies of the Light. The Guardian's enemies. Now, Jim's never alone. He is the Guardian's shadow. Always at his side no matter what the universe throws at them....
Golden Age
Risk Management department headed under Alton Bray. Jim's job is to make sure that Clovis Bray's trade secrets, research and people do not get into the wrong hands.
For many, a simple automated message saying their request or activity has flagged review from Risk Management is enough to make them reconsider. For the rest? Field agent Jim Kirk tracks down and "Handles".
In case this wasn't clear, CB Jim is not a nice guy. He's not batshit insane cartoon villain the way Mirror verses tend to go though. Just an ex soldier who was dealt a rough hand in life and took a job with excellent pay and benefits he happened to be suited to. It's not personal, just business.
He does however develop a superiority complex when taking interest in anyone intimately. He'd claim not to believe in love (but even he isn't immune). He has been known to stalk people who interest him physically and is someone you should avoid if dubcon / noncon is a huge squick for you because this creep isn't above blackmail or using his strength to get what he wants.
That said, if you do manage to be the lucky or unlucky person who wins his heart? He will burn the world for you.

Date: 2025-03-09 06:28 pm (UTC)When he escapes and finds that he is surrounded by companions who by and large all sound Very Impressive (THE Blade of Frontiers? A Wizarding PRODIGY???? Etc, etc) James grows afraid that his comparative lack of experience will make him a liability and he will be left behind if they learn he is simply some rich toff who has only ever seen adventure with a fully equipped guard to protect him at all times.
He has some passing archery skills owing to Hunting being an acceptable Nobleman's hobby and thus picks up a bow and introduces himself as Jim, traveling ranger. He tries to hide his accent and sheltered upbringing until he gets more comfortable with the party. By then, of course, he's grown into the adventuring life to stand on his own two feet as a capable ranger, a head for directions even underground, and sound at tactics.
Tends to fall on the Wyll and Karlach end of the morality scale of being Very Good, but as a blue blood well accustomed to the poisons of politics and social hierarchies appreciates those like Astarion and Shadowheart's tactics as well.
This man has gone out of his way to befriend Everyone. Assume no canon 'romance partner'. I prefer to write Gen and if something vibes with my writing partners then we can talk shipping. Definitely open to the discussion though!
Dragon Age AU (Inquisition - Veilguard eras)
Date: 2025-03-09 06:44 pm (UTC)When the hole in the sky happened, Jim Kirk - younger son of house Kirk of Ostwick ran away from home and joined the Inquisition as a basic scout working under scouts like Harding. He was about as young as she was, too, though not as seasoned owing to his noble upbringing. He tried to pass as just an ordinary scout, but Lady Montilyet discovered that House Kirk's spare son was indeed among their ranks. She agreed to keep his identity a secret if He agreed to take a patrol that put him on the main trading route between Skyhold and Val Royeaux.
Jim's upbringing meant he knew how to act around nobility and crucially what to look out for among those the Inquisition would be parleying with. Additionally, when the Inquisitor herself was sent to official functions, Kirk was to act as her escort as he could be trusted to help Asaaranda more safely navigate the social clusterfuck that is nobility, culture, and politics in Thedas.
During the march on Corypheus Jim was gravely injured and blighted (think your sibling in DA2). He was saved by a Warden and was allowed to participate in the Joining as the only chance to save his life. Warden Kirk trained and thus worked in the Anderfels for several years until the time of Veilguard.
When Varric and Harding ran into the wardens in their search for Solas, Kirk and Harding had a friendly reunion and that was where Varric hired him. When Jim pointed out that while he had not been important he HAD been among the Inquisition forces and thus Solas might know of him he was given the name Rook on account of his love of chess.
Rook!Jim is a rogue (i typically write him as preferring bows ala inquisition rogue but warden training has made him proficient with dual blades as well). Conversation wise he is more of a top tree Blue conversation protagonist that occasionally dives into purple / sarcastic/comedic responses.
Without spoiling much of Veilguard - Jim's choice is to go and back up Treviso as the city was not designed defensively, has no standing army, and in general even at a glance will result in the loss of more civilian life. Jim would have done all he could in splitting the party to help both places, but personally would have gone to Treviso on the basis that it was where he could do the most good.
The choice is one of many that keeps him up at night. Not because he regrets it, but because there was no right answer. Even if he knows he'd choose it again, it doesn't make the consequences of that choice any easier on his conscience.
Preferred ships for this AU are Neve, Lucanis, or Harding though I am open to all of the companions/NPCs if CR ends up leaning that way. Those were just who I ended up taking with me most often. Also available to other Rooks as just Warden Jim. Similar to how I play him in Inquisition era, just assume he's another companion.
The Fall AU
Date: 2025-03-09 06:44 pm (UTC)Jim Kirk is an Earth Federation special intelligence officer working separately from Raven Division. When Josephs of Raven Division goes missing with the data and comments he had made prior to his disappearance, Kirk was sent along after him to investigate and 'clean up' anything that could compromise fleet security.
Instead, Kirk found Joseph's Mark-VII combat suit with only his active --and now deviant-- A.R.I.D. system online. Josephs was long gone, and in his wake a conspiracy that could threaten far more than fleet security if it was not stopped.
Jim is not entirely honest with ARID about his mission, assuming she would kill him if he admitted to being after her pilot to question him and bring him in on charges. Still, they become an unconventional but effective pair of allies. When Josephs' treachery is revealed for its true extent, Kirk kills him and does everything he can to keep ARID's body online long enough for her to accomplish her goal.
He is listed officially as KIA by the end of the second game and becomes the first (and only) human on side of the newly awaked intelligent life among the droids...

Fallout New Vegas AU
Date: 2025-03-09 06:46 pm (UTC)They thought he was more loyal than smart. They were wrong.
Jim hadn't even gotten to the border of the NCR's territory before realizing he'd been sold on a lie. Maybe Josephs was right to leave. By the time he catches up with his target, easy to spot by the telltale advanced stealth combat suit power armor he does not even try to conceal, it appears his target is injured and weak in Good Springs. Jim settles in to tail the suit. He does so for weeks before coming to the realization that the suit has no one inside it by this point.
Josephs has fled and left the AI within the suit to govern itself.
Why?
The further Jim follows, the more he watches Joseph's AI putting itself in harm's way to protect the innocent. The more he starts to think that the ally he thought was Right about the world wasn't Josephs at all, but the AI within his power armor. Jim outs himself to come to its aid during a particularly brutal encounter in the wasteland and becomes the very first ally the Courier ARID finds in her journey.
A remnant from her home who --like her-- finds more to protect in the Wasteland than to conquer or eliminate.
Jim prefers sniper rifles and ranged combat and can often be found if left to his own devices stalking the wastelands around the Lucky 38 in an ever widening circle creating a map of the New Vegas Wastelands. Not everyone can have a fancy-ass Pip-Boy like ARID's got. His favorite gifts are cigarettes or mugs of coffee. He holds no love for his upbringing within the Enclave, but even Less for Ceasar's Legion. The NCR he's more neutral on, but finds their current governing of the area to be inefficient and lacking at best.
Jim's Courier chose to overthrow House and kick both the Legion and NCR out of the Mojave to create a self sustaining government with all minor factions as allies and creating a haven for AI life. He's her second most loyal companion becuse let's face it, no one is going to top ED-E for that role in this AU.
Super hero AU
Date: 2025-03-09 06:47 pm (UTC)Alias: Captain Nova
Civilian Identity: [UNKNOWN]
Suit inspiration: The lovechild of motorcycle gear and the gold and black suit from the PS4 spider-man game. Black with gold 'racing' lines up one side, emblem is the starfleet logo because of course it is.
Powers: Enhanced Strength/Stamina/Recovery. Solar based energy blasts that originate from the palms of his hands. Uses this energy manipulation to fly. Has a tendency to melt things if a fight goes on too long. This guy runs Hot.
Where you'll find him: Nova used to work his neighborhood and surrounding boroughs of NYC with Vulcanus as his partner until Vulcanus voluntarily registered with LEGION thus putting him under government supervision and oversight. They expected Nova would join his partner and follow suit. He chose not to. Views Vulcanus' switch to working for LEGION as a betrayal, when in reality the half Vulcan and half human Spock did so because he discovered the truth about his only friend's powers.
Spock is the reason Jim Kirk lost everything.
Backstory Highlights: (Not necessary but here if needed)
Spock discovers that his human mother was rescued from intergalactic slave trade and journeys alone to Earth to discover the rest of his heritage. Coming from a pacifistic people, he does not anticipate modern day military aggression. His small ship is damaged when he lands and Spock goes into hiding.
Air force recovers the ship and spends years trying to reverse engineer it. Eventually they succeed and manage to turn it into the fastest passenger carrying ship on Earth. They can't figure out all of the alien controls but get enough working to hire on a group of pilots to ferry around Suits to their various important missions globally on behalf of LEGION.
Jim Kirk is one such pilot.
On an emergency flight to take his mentor to an undisclosed location, Jim manages to push the plane to its in-atmo limits and the Vulcan systems come online to connect to his psi-points and assist him in what the programming assumes is an emergency maneuver. Attempting this on a psi-null human doesn't go well.
The resulting crash should have killed Jim like it did everyone else onboard.
The next six months were spent in agony dealing with surgeries, medical discharge from the Airforce, and being swept under the rug as part of a now-failed classified project. And all the while something burned inside of him.
Once he figured out how to control it, he decided to join the smattering of unregistered Augmenteds hiding from the law. Eventually starts vigilante work in and around his local neighborhood. Has the leadership chops and stamina to BE one of the bigger players like Vulcanus is within LEGION but doesn't trust the people who did this to him then threw him away as just another disabled vet to have his best interest at heart.
